How to Make an Acrylic Keychain with Stickers: A Step-by-Step Guide

Creating personalized acrylic keychains with stickers is a fun and easy DIY project that adds a personal touch to your accessories. Follow this simple guide to make your own acrylic keychain!

Materials You'll Need:

  • Clear acrylic blanks (available in various shapes and sizes)
  • Stickers or vinyl decals of your choice
  • Clear epoxy resin or UV resin
  • Resin curing lamp (optional, if using UV resin)
  • Mod Podge or any decoupage glue (optional)
  • Jump rings and keychain hooks
  • Small hand drill or craft drill
  • Sandpaper (optional, for smoothing edges)
  • Protective gloves and workspace covering

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Acrylic Blank:

    • Remove any protective film from the acrylic blank on both sides.
    • If the edges feel rough, lightly sand them with fine-grit sandpaper for a smooth finish.
  2. Choose and Apply Your Stickers:

    • Select stickers or vinyl decals that fit the size and shape of your acrylic blank.
    • Clean the acrylic surface with a soft cloth to remove any dust or fingerprints.
    • Carefully place the sticker onto the acrylic, smoothing out any air bubbles with your fingers.
  3. Seal the Sticker (Optional):

    • Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or decoupage glue over the sticker to protect it.
    • Allow it to dry completely before moving to the next step.
  4. Add a Resin Coating:

    • Mix clear epoxy resin according to the package instructions or use UV resin for faster curing.
    • Pour a small amount of resin over the sticker-covered side of the acrylic blank, ensuring an even coating.
    • Use a toothpick or craft stick to spread the resin evenly to the edges.
  5. Cure the Resin:

    • If using UV resin, place the acrylic blank under a UV curing lamp for the recommended time until the resin hardens.
    • For epoxy resin, let it cure in a dust-free environment for 24–48 hours (or as directed).
  6. Drill a Hole for the Keychain Hook:

    • Use a small hand drill or craft drill to create a hole at the top of the acrylic blank.
    • Make sure the hole is large enough for the jump ring to fit through.
  7. Attach the Keychain Hardware:

    • Open a jump ring with pliers and thread it through the hole in the acrylic blank.
    • Attach the keychain hook to the jump ring and close it securely.
  8. Finish and Enjoy:

    • Inspect your keychain to ensure everything is secure.
    • Your custom acrylic keychain is ready to use or gift!

Tips for Success:

  • Use high-quality stickers or vinyl decals for better durability.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area, especially when handling resin.
  • Experiment with layering stickers or adding glitter to the resin for a unique effect.

Have fun crafting your one-of-a-kind acrylic keychain!
